Want something durable and long-lasting? Trust in the company that designs products for the harshest and most demanding conditions. We specialise in making excellent equipment for heavy labour industries here at Richmond Wheel and Castor Co. We design and produce carts, roll cages, wheelbarrows, bearings, flanges, and lift tables, and we make these for industries where measurements and precision mean everything. Our products see constant use in environments with extreme heat, corrosive chemical exposure, high impact, and even UV radiation. In other words, we make products that are not only built to last but built to be precise while they do it. Read More

Use PU Architectural Mouldings to Give Your Home or Workplace the Most Durable Build

So, you can trust that we make all our products to that same standard, even if some of them are used in less volatile environments. Our wheels and castors might not be inside a heavy-duty refinery, but they’re still made of durable hot cast polyurethane. Our moving blankets might not see anything more chaotic than the inside of a moving van, but they still absorb impact perfectly to protect your whiteware. And our polyurethane architectural mouldings are no different. We make sure our mouldings are precisely measured and engineered to withstand everything that other building materials cannot.

Australians across dozens of industries have been trusting our products to get the job done since the 1950s. We’ve worked hard to make our products the sensible decision, and we’re proud to keep offering that same quality no matter how big we grow.

The Advantages of Replacing Traditional Materials with Architectural Urethane Polyurethane Mouldings

If you’re a homeowner making renovations, you’ll want them to last a good long while. You want your renovations to outlast you, if possible, right? And if you’re a construction company, you want the materials you use to reflect the quality of your craftsmanship. You can’t build sturdy buildings without equally sturdy materials. And no viable building material is quite as sturdy as polyurethane.

Urethane can be moulded into various shapes thanks to its very malleable properties, so hot cast polyurethane can be used to make columns, awnings, sunhoods, baseboards, crowns, cornices, and more. Basically, PU mouldings can fit right in where you would ordinarily use brick, wood, plaster, or even stone. polyurethane architectural mouldings especially useful for covering transitions between different building materials.

PU moulding essentially takes the best of every other building material and compensates for its weaknesses. PU architectural mouldings takes the charm and versatility of wood while also being much less vulnerable to weather conditions. Polyurethane doesn’t absorb moisture, and as a synthetic material, it doesn’t rot the way wood eventually does. In other words, PU architectural moulding is incredibly weather resistant and will last for years even in external use. Polyurethane mouldings also aren’t edible or habitable, which means they don’t ever attract termites or other pests.

Polyurethane is also highly durable. It withstands impact and temperature changes extremely well, making it much more solid than plaster. It’s comparable to stone in terms of durability, but it’s also not nearly as cumbersome. Stone is usually extremely heavy, but PU moulding is lightweight, making it safer and easier to transport and put into place.

The perfect partner for custom polyurethane products

For specific applications Richmond Wheel & Castor Co. can expertly manufacture polyurethane products in any hardness from 25A to 85D.

How does polyurethane compare to alternative material selections?

Compared to rubber Compared to metal Compared to injection moulded plastics
Superior abrasion resistance Abrasion resistance High impact resistance
Wide range or hardness for more application flexibility Non-corrosive Much lower tooling cost
Lighter load bearing Light weight Elastic memory
Cut and tear resistant Flexible Thick and thin section mouldings
Uv and ozone resistance Impact resistant Noise reduction
Lower cost tooling Nonconductive Lower and higher temperature range capable
Thicker sections possible Non sparking Resilience
Parts with very thick and thin sections possible Lower cost fabrication Elastic memory
Colourability Lower cost tooling compared to cast steel/iron parts Wide range or hardness for more application flexibility
Can be manufactured with a FRAS Rating (fire resistance & antistatic) Noise reduction in impact applications Abrasion resistance
Won’t damage other steel or concrete surfaces like steel components
