The spectacular Queen’s Wharf in Auckland is New Zealand’s busiest harbour, with thousands of ferries and cruise ships using its facilities every year.

One of the most important elements of a smooth running port operation is the safe and efficient embarking and disembarking of passengers.

SUPPLYING CASTOR WHEELS TO THE QUEEN’S WHARF GROUND CREW

In 2021, Richmond Wheel & Castor Co. partnered with the ground crew at the Queen’s Wharf to supply our Polyurethane Cast Iron Castors to a number of cruise ship gangways.

The swivel and lock brake design combined with the 1000kg weight capacity make them ideal for mobile platforms. It also includes precision machined ball race and high tensile steel kingpin to withstand side impact loads.

These incredibly rugged castors have been exposed to all weather conditions at the Queen’s Wharf – without compromising on performance or safety.

The platforms are regularly moved across a variety of surfaces, including rough bitumen, and the castor wheels are showing no signs of wear and tear.
