Rope Groove Wheels

Rope Groove Wheels are very similar to pulleys or sheaves. They are not necessarily track wheels as they don’t move along a fixed track, but instead the wheels are stationary and allows rotation of the rope/cable that runs in the groove.

The groove depth should be at least the depth of the rope diameter, and in some cases may need to be recessed even further. The deeper the recess, the lower the chance of the rope jumping and escaping the groove.

The material used in Rope Groove Wheels depends on the application:

Mild Steel: High strength, easy to source and easy to machine, high noise, potential to wear rope.

Aluminium: High strength, very lightweight, high cost, may wear against steel rope/cable.

Nylon: Medium strength, easy to machine, medium cost, very low noise, corrossion resistant, may wear against steel rope.
